Elect Mike Reilly

As a part of the Park District Board, Mike will work to create an environment of open communication and set clear priorities so that board members and the Park District staff can create oustanding opportunities for the community. 

Principles

• Park District commissioners should focus on long term strategy and establish priorities which support those strategies
• It is critical that the board and the Executive Director be on the same page on the strategies and priorities and that the Executive Director communicate those throughout the organization
• Continuity in the Executive Director position should be a priority. Prudent oversight also requires that a succession plan is in place.
• The Park District is part of the fabric that makes Naperville such a great place to live. Coordination and cooperation with the city, school districts 204 and 203, the Riverwalk Commission, the Millennium Carillon Commission and others is necessary to maximize the overall value to residents
• Residents and Park District staff are entitled to a board of commissioners that works together in an effective and collaborative way with the best interest of residents in mind
• It is beneficial for Commissioners to be active and visible in community events as this fosters direct communication with Park District customers
• “Interaction without interruption” is my motto for interfacing with Park district staff

Priorities

• Provide a full range of desired recreational, entertainment and educational opportunities to residents on a fiscally responsible basis
• Help establish long term strategies and priorities that are communicated and clearly understood throughout the park district staff
• The development and implementation of major projects
• The garden plots, including the inter-governmental agreement, once approved by city council
